Alexander Proskurin: “Sibur is a single geography, a single team. How the digital division works in a non-digital company

It seems that there are two worlds that do not intersect. One is fintech, telecom, startups and Yandex. Digital reigns here: digital solutions, future technologies and breakthrough projects that are changing the world. The other is petrochemistry, industrial production: a lot of "iron", factories in Siberia and strict processes.

In "Sibur" these two worlds have united. On the one hand, it is the largest integrated gas processing and petrochemical company in Russia. On the other hand, the digital office completely rebuilds the work of this colossus. Sibur has 23 factories, 27,000 employees, 2 million tons of plastics and polymers per year and exports to 80 countries. The company's products - synthetic materials and fuels - are used literally everywhere: from heating houses to the production of smartphones, electric vehicles and UAVs.

Sibur is gathering a digital team

Sibur needs digital specialists for digital transformation. The whole business is being "digitized": from the supply of raw materials for production and equipment operation to sales. Achievements of the digital revolution - AR, VR, IoT, data science, Machine Learning, mobile applications and so on - will be used to:

  • eliminate equipment downtime, failures and technological violations;
  • improve productivity and product quality;
  • reduce logistics and procurement costs;
  • make decisions faster, launch and bring new products to market.

In Russia, there are few manufacturing companies who have embarked on a "digital" path. Sibur is a trendsetter in the industry, introducing the latest technological solutions.

To make it work, Sibur singled out digital as a separate business function. Its employees had the chance to personally participate in the fourth industrial revolution in the largest industry.

Connecting "big iron" and digital is the biggest challenge.

Some steps towards digital transformation have already been taken: technologies are being piloted or implemented.

  • Industrial IoT. Each enterprise has a mass of sensors that send real-time data on the state of equipment and the technological process.
  • big data. Algorithms-advisers at factories in Tobolsk, Voronezh, Tomsk, Kstov, Tolyatti and Nizhny Novgorod monitor the data flow and suggest the optimal mode of operation of process units.
  • Artificial intelligence. AI recognizes the faces of employees at the entrance to the Moscow center "Sibur" to do without passes.
  • Virtual reality. A VR compressor repair simulator has been launched in Tomsk. Previously, in order to study the compressor from the inside, workers waited for its scheduled shutdown for repairs. Now learning is much faster.

Some of the technologies Sibur uses are unique to the industry.

We are implementing augmented reality (AR) at the Tobolsk industrial site. We have not yet seen such projects in the petrochemical industry. Thanks to this solution, it is possible to reduce the time for repairs, since now not all issues can be resolved on the spot. With the help of augmented reality, the problem will be solved: the employee will be able to broadcast the image to a remote expert and receive real-time prompts. Also, the augmented reality system will show help on the equipment. Valery Cherepanov, Head of Industry 4.0

In the nearest plans:

  1. "digitize" logistics - to combine and centrally process huge amounts of information about rail transportation. This will help to reduce loading time and costs for shunting operations, eliminate the transportation of empty cars, increase shipments, optimize the repair of cars, and so on;
  2. inspect product pipelines and objects several hectares in size with the help of drones capable of identifying problems from the air (steam, leaks, and so on);
  3. print spare parts on 3D printers instead of waiting for delivery from warehouses;
  4. store and quickly process information in in electronic format- "data lakes" instead of paperwork;
  5. introduce wearable devices that will monitor the health status and location of employees (in the event of an accident at a hazardous production, such a device can save lives);
  6. scale solutions tested at one or two sites to the entire Sibur.

Huge prospects are associated with Data Science. The flow of information from different sources, in different systems and formats needs to be picked up, reduced to one form, stored in a “data lake” and analyzed. As a result, it is possible, for example, to create an "autopilot" - a system that can read sensor readings, control a chemical process in real time and achieve the highest efficiency and quality.

At Sibur, digital professionals have a rare opportunity to see for themselves how their solutions change the work of thousands of people. The company has adopted business trips to production sites: less often for developers, more often for a scrum master and product owner, but from time to time everyone is selected to the fields. It's an unforgettable experience.

When you come to the plant for the first time and see how everything works, it's wildly impressive. A million installations, chemical processes, complex logistics - the business is incredibly vast. The most interesting task is to understand where and how to achieve the greatest effect from digital processes. The biggest challenge is to connect real world, big hardware with digital. Jan Zaryn, Head of the "Digitalization of processes" direction

How the digital division works in a non-digital company

A petrochemical corporation is an unusual place to work for digital professionals. In order to create a familiar atmosphere for them, digital in Sibur was allocated in separate division. Here the rules of the game are the same as in more familiar IT projects.

The general type of thinking in the division is Agile, and product teams work according to Scrum. Groups are traditionally small (for example, 2-3 developers, an analyst, a tester, a product owner, and a UX designer) and autonomous: they themselves prioritize work and plan the load. DevOps, communication with experts and users of the product, iterative work and challenge projects - this is all about working at Sibur.

The office corresponds to the spirit of work: a futuristic open space three minutes from Profsoyuznaya metro station. Of course, there is no dress code, but flexible schedule, VHI, life insurance and other usual benefits - there are. In general, the atmosphere is similar to an IT startup.

Indeed, the digital function is a startup within Sibur. In a corporation, it is built from scratch, and the division operates quite independently. Therefore, bold ideas can be proposed and implemented here. Those who prove themselves have room to grow: the company operates the principle of meritocracy (it is even one of Sibur's values). As in a startup, you need to apply all your past digital experience to solve new problems. The corporate culture of the division is formed on the go - in the very first team, which is being assembled right now. But, unlike a startup, the company is reliable: after all, the revenue exceeds 450 billion rubles.

The main difference between Sibur and digital divisions in the "usual" areas is its huge scale, the creation of solutions "from scratch" and the opportunity to personally see the result of the work. You can also gain experience on projects that are not possible in other areas.

Before joining Sibur, Jan Zaryn spent 10 years in FinTech: he developed an international payment gateway, launched a startup with innovative technology mobile acquiring, and for the last two years he has been involved in digital transformation at Alfa-Laboratory, led the development teams mobile banking Alfa Bank.

Banks have been digital for a million years: the topic is narrow, the main has already been done, it is more difficult to find new tasks, the products themselves are virtual - in comparison with production. And manufacturing is a very real industry. What factories produce is all around us every day. Jan Zaryn, Head of Process Digitalization, on his decision to move from fintech to industrial digital

Alexander Aivaz, Head of the Center "Corporate Data Management"

We have it all: real installations with many sensors, scale of production, a huge number of technological processes, which after digitalization can give a significant effect in terms of money. Maybe, manufacturing industry in Russia now is the very place where big breakthroughs will take place and big effects can be seen. Director of the Center "Corporate Data Management" Alexander Aivaz. Prior to Sibur, he worked with data at Tinkoff Insurance and Rostelecom

Sibur is waiting for you!

Sibur is gathering a strong digital team in Moscow:

  • specialists in virtual and augmented reality, IoT, Machine Learning and Big Data: Data Scientists, architects and data engineers;
  • Developers: Full Stack, Frontend/Backend, Developers mobile applications, UX/UI designers, solution architects;
  • Scrum masters.

A digital center has already been formed in Tomsk, and are being formed in Nizhny Novgorod, Tobolsk and Voronezh.

Digitalization - strategic objective for the company, so decision-making is not delayed: on average, only three to four weeks pass from the first contact to the offer.

The general requirement for all vacancies is to be a professional: ambitious, ready to solve problems that no one has ever solved before. In response, Sibur offers an attractive compensation package, training opportunities (including abroad), and an energetic start-up atmosphere with the prospect of rapid growth. But the main thing is that Sibur's digital specialists have a rare chance: to apply all their experience, master mainstream technologies on projects of a colossal scale and personally see the fruits of their actions.

Join us to make the Digital Revolution your own hands!

SIBUR Holding introduced in the company new system management, separating strategic and operational leadership. Dmitry Konov remained the chairman of the board of the company, and Mikhail Karisalov took the position of general director and chairman of the board of directors of SIBUR LLC.

PJSC SIBUR Holding has adopted a new company charter (.pdf), which involves a change in the management system. Now two sole proprietors will manage the work of Russia's largest petrochemical concern executive body. The Chairman of the Board of SIBUR Holding, whose position is retained by Dmitry Konov, will be responsible for strategic issues, and the CEO of SIBUR LLC, who has been appointed Mikhail Karisalov (who will also become the Chairman of the Board), will take care of the current development of the company.

Such a decision, as explained in SIBUR, is associated with the formalization of previously initiated processes in the company to separate strategic and operational management and is aimed at further improving management efficiency. In fact, the company notes, the process of changes has been going on for a long time, just now they have been formally fixed. The market notes that such a division will allow each of the top managers to concentrate on their tasks.

Dmitry Konov will global issues development, and Mikhail Karisalov, in fact, will continue to work on specific projects at the plants and enterprises of the group.

Alexander Zanosienko, Head of IT User Development Department, SIBUR Holding PJSC:

My name is Alexander Zanosienko and I represent SIBUR Holding. It is the largest petrochemical holding in Russia.

A few words about the project

I want to tell you about our project. The project is called "Internal IT Association "vitamin"". One of the main tasks this project- adapt to the most efficient short time new employees to use all information systems, which are in service with our company SIBUR Holding.

Project Features

A large number of calls that came to the service technical support- approximately 20% - were associated with insufficient knowledge or possession of one or another functionality of corporate information systems. In this regard, an internal association was formed, the concept of an internal association for the preparation, training of all users that we have on all sites, on various information systems.

Information systems we have a large number of, so it was necessary to develop general approach in order to be able to test it in the corporate center and replicate it in other sites, in other factories and for all levels of employees that we have, from engineers to directors of functions.

We have formed a full cycle of IT training in our holding. This cycle consists of three main directions. The first direction is adaptive training for newcomers: we help employees become more efficient within a period of three months. The second is the upgrade of those employees that we already have, because in addition to the fact that we have a certain number of information systems that have long been implemented and used at all sites ... It's no secret that in order for the company to develop and move forward, it is necessary to constantly introduce some new information systems, to be "on horseback". Therefore, we are constantly studying the digital market and introducing new information systems. Therefore, in this second direction, we help existing employees to know the functionality of all systems that exist, and already before implementation, study the functionality and all the possibilities of new information systems.

Plus, the third direction, which unites these two directions, is communication, because those people who are trained must be able to transfer knowledge, skills and abilities, leave a store of knowledge in our holding.

Project results

As part of the internal IT Association "vitamin", we managed to halve the number of user requests in 9 months. This is a very large number. We don't stop there. In the future, we plan to form specialized associations for this year, we can name mentoring institutions, in which there will be leaders who will form these institutions, various life hacks depending on positions and roles and transfer this knowledge to new employees.

Plus, in some cases, we were able to refuse to attract external providers for IT training. We do all this with the help of our employees, who really are carriers of knowledge and this specificity.

21.08.2017 11:48

This year, the head of SIBUR's Kstovo site has changed: Alexander DOLZHIKOV has become the new General Director of SIBUR-Kstovo. In an interview with our agency, he spoke about himself, his work, the enterprise, as well as the projects that the company is implementing both in Kstovo and far beyond its borders.

Alexander Sergeevich, at the word "chemistry" for many people who are not related to this science, the image of a tomboy boy from the TV magazine "Yeralash" arises, who likes to blow something up. Is your interest in chemistry also from school?

It seems to me that, first of all, those who like to create something are fond of chemistry. Personally, it has always been interesting for me to observe how various chemical transformations take place, to understand what patterns are behind them. However, there were years in my life when I was closely associated with the chemistry of the explosion - military service in the Soviet army was a sapper. For men, the army good school life. Here are some important lessons I learned. In addition to discipline, the service instilled in me a correct understanding of security - it is known that a sapper is mistaken only once.

You recently became the head of SIBUR-Kstovo, but you have been working for SIBUR for a long time. What is your professional path?

I have been working in the petrochemical industry since 1977. The first enterprise where he worked was the plant, which is now called Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat. This is a large petrochemical complex located in the Republic of Bashkiria, which includes many different industries. He went to work after graduating from the oil and gas technical school, where he received the specialty " Maintenance and repair of industrial equipment.

Like many boys, at school he was fond of "exact" subjects. Always loved technology. Therefore, the choice of profession is probably not accidental. Plus the region in which he lived and studied. Tyumen region, Western Siberia is, first of all, largest deposits oil and gas, as well as enterprises for their processing.

From September 1985, he worked at the production facilities that are now part of SIBUR. Went through all the steps career ladder: engineer of technological compressors, master foreman, plant manager, production manager, Chief Engineer, director of a gas processing enterprise.

Of course it took additional education- Graduated from the Tyumen State Oil and Gas University with a degree in Economics and Management at the Enterprise and from the LINK International Institute of Management.

- Do you have experience in managing industrial enterprises?

Yes, in the perimeter of SIBUR I am CEO headed the Belozerny and Nizhnevartovsk gas processing complexes, JV Yugragazpererabotka and SiburTyumenGaz, which unites seven gas processing plants and one gas transmission company.

Your predecessor, Konstantin Ermizin, headed SIBUR's Kstovo site for a short time, about two years. What is the reason for such a frequent change of management personnel at the enterprise?

We have adopted planned rotations in our company, so frequent moving from enterprise to enterprise, from one geography to another is a common story not only for managers, but also for specialists. People start working at one site, then they work at another. They move to the project, after the implementation of which they can again return to production, or try their hand at the corporate center. For example, before being appointed to Kstovo, I worked for some time as an adviser to the chief operating officer of SIBUR. This is how experience is gained, a unified corporate culture allowing flexible response to the challenges of the time.

Konstantin Ermizin moved to the Tobolsk site, where the construction of the ZapSibNeftekhim enterprise is currently underway. This is the largest construction site in the petrochemical industry in the entire post-Soviet period. His experience is now in demand there, including that gained in Kstovo.

Newspapers write about the construction in Tobolsk, it is shown on TV. Is it really a big project?

Yes, after the completion of the construction, ZapSibNeftekhim will become the largest modern petrochemical complex in the country. At the same time, a pyrolysis unit with a capacity of 1.5 million tons of ethylene, 500 thousand tons of propylene, as well as 240 thousand tons of high-margin by-products per year is being built in its composition. Four lines for the production of various grades of polyethylene with a total capacity of 1.5 million tons per year. Plant for the production of polypropylene with a capacity of 500 thousand tons per year. There are currently four or five such gigantic projects all over the world. And for Russia it is truly unique.

Moreover, this project is of great importance not only for Tobolsk or the Tyumen region, but for the whole country. Technology and equipment suppliers are not only the largest companies from Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands and other countries, such as LINDE, INEOS, LyondellBasell, but also domestic enterprises. For example, two large companies from Nizhny Novgorod region are suppliers of electrical equipment. In addition, specialists from different regions go to work at ZapSibNeftekhim in Tobolsk. And for the residents of Kstovo, this is a good chance.

- Can you elaborate on this? What is the chance?

The staff of the new enterprise is already being recruited. The search for the best specialists throughout the country is underway. Including in Kstovo. Our site is participating in the Doubler project, during which we will try to train up to 100 people who will be able to get jobs at ZapSibNeftekhim. As part of the project, redundant staff units with full functionality are created at SIBUR's existing production facilities in the regions to provide the new plant with qualified personnel by the time of launch. We also provide training for young workers and specialists for future industries, a partner in solving this problem is the Kstovo Petroleum College, together with which a special program has been developed.

It may be that moving from one site to another is familiar to SIBUR, but for most people who have not previously been involved with the company, this is a new experience. Why do people, especially good specialists, to be removed from the "familiar place" and move to the North?

Firstly, Tobolsk is not so much the North. Rather, the south of the Tyumen region. Winter, of course, is longer than in the Nizhny Novgorod region, but in general the climate is quite comparable. This is a beautiful historical city on the Irtysh, a cultural, tourist and educational center. Tobolsk has its own Kremlin - the only stone one in Siberia, many churches, and a developed social infrastructure. The natives of the Tobolsk land were famous people - the chemist Dmitry Mendeleev, the composer Alexander Alyabyev, the itinerant artist Vasily Perov and many others. In a word, it is clean, comfortable, and at the same time - an interesting and modern city, attractive for life.

Secondly, SIBUR offers skilled workers and specialists in Tobolsk unique conditions. First of all, it provides service housing. built whole microdistrict for employees of ZapSibNeftekhim. These are modern comfortable apartments of a large area, fully furnished and equipped with all household appliances– from washing machine to hair dryer. You won't have to take almost anything with you. The apartments even provide bed linen and utensils, including knives and forks. The most interesting thing is that after 5 years these apartments can be purchased as a property for only 50% of their value, by paying this amount immediately, or in installments for 5 years.

At the same time, the level wages- high, there is a good social package, including voluntary medical insurance, various benefits and payments - both those that all SIBUR employees have, and those specially designed for employees of the new plant. Relocation expenses are compensated, a lump-sum allowance is paid, each employee can go home with his family members for free once a year. Other domestic issues are also being resolved: for example, places in kindergartens and schools are reserved for the children of invited employees.

Thirdly, I consider this to be the main thing, workers and specialists at ZapSibNeftekhim will have the opportunity to work on the most modern equipment. This is a great opportunity to grow both professionally and career-wise.

Let's return to Kstovo. Recently, SIBUR has been actively involved in social life cities. Projects under the corporate charitable program "Formula of good deeds" are being implemented. This year - another project, "Polymer Formula"...

Yes, we are trying to make life better and more convenient for residents where SIBUR's production facilities are located. There are projects proposed by the townspeople that we support. There are projects that we "bring" from Moscow to the regions. For example, this year alone, as part of the Formula for Good Deeds, Kstovo hosted master classes in chemistry for teachers and schoolchildren from leading experts, a science festival, and the SIBUR CUP 3X3 streetball tournament. A modern world-class horizontal bar complex has been built at the local stadium, on this sports ground during July and August, free fitness, cross-fit, Thai boxing and, of course, “street work-out” trainings are held twice a week - outdoor exercises on gymnastic equipment.

The "polymer formula" is a slightly different story. With the help of this project, we tried to tell the townspeople about the products that we produce both in Kstovo and at other sites. About how these products, in this case polymers, make people's lives better and more comfortable. The project lasted from April to June. First, we organized a blog tour of Nizhny Novgorod bloggers to our factory site, to RusVinyl, a joint venture between SIBUR and Solvay, and to a photo zone located in the largest city mall. A "polymer room" was modeled there, all of which were made of plastic. You could walk around, touch the details of the situation with your hands, take a selfie with funny characters, read the stickers where Interesting Facts about the world of polymers, get Additional information at the volunteers. During its operation, the photo zone was visited by 3,600 people.

- During the "Formula of Polymers" were there actions for both children and adults?

The audience of the actions that were held within the framework of the project is very different. We organized a series of chemical shows "Polymerics" for students of seven city schools, with the help of which we tried to interest the children in chemistry. About 2,400 children took part in the show. In the city FOK held sports holiday"Chemistry of Victories", during which they demonstrated the capabilities of protective hockey equipment made of plastic. Captain of HC "Torpedo" Alexey Potapov took part in the action. The "Polymer Formula" project ended with a big city holiday "ChistoFest", during which the most active citizens, primarily those who collected used plastic for recycling, received prizes.

- Did you collect a lot of plastic?

Almost 9 tons. In total, about 7,000 people took part in various events of the "Formula Polymers". Directly on the city holiday "ChistoFest" was attended by about 1.5 thousand Kstovites and guests of the city.

The topic of plastic recycling has become a common thread throughout all the Polymer Formula events. To what extent environmental issues, sustainable development important to you?

Very important. SIBUR is an environmentally responsible company. Our raw materials are mainly associated petroleum gas, which used to be simply flared, and now, thanks to us, it turns into useful objects that surround each of us. So we talked about the construction of the ZapSibNeftegaz enterprise, new complex will allow involving more than 22 billion cubic meters of associated petroleum gas into useful processing, thereby preventing its burning at the fields and emissions of pollutants in the amount of 6-7 million tons per year. Recycling used plastic new topic which we are developing. Plastic can be completely recycled, it is important for everyone to know this. For example, from one ton of waste plastic bottles it is possible to produce upholstery fabric for 200 sofas. By the way, 20 thousand pairs of shoe covers could be made from the used plastic collected during the Polymer Formula project. That is how many shoe covers we purchased and donated to the central district hospital following the results of the action.

- Is the social activity of SIBUR in Tobolsk the same as in Kstovo?

Everything that I said about Kstovo needs to be multiplied several times. The SIBUR site is a city-forming enterprise in Tobolsk. This is our "heart", which gives impetus to the development of the company. In fact, the entire petrochemical complex of the country. It is a bright, interesting, youthful city. Our Tobolsk site is a place where you can develop. To take place both as a person and as a professional in his field.

- In a word, would you recommend a young specialist to start his career in Tobolsk?

I would say "recommended". Our grandfathers built Magnitogorsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur. My older comrades were leaving for the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline. Now at young specialist there is an opportunity to start creating your own professional career from the Tobolsk site of SIBUR. We, one of the few large industrial companies, continue to actively develop and build new production facilities. Well, as I said, SIBUR provides unique opportunities for those who work in the ZapSibNeftekhim project. Parents of current university graduates, setting off to build BAM on a "Komsomol ticket", could not even dream of such comfortable conditions as they are now.
