Stages of starting a business

  1. The right choice of field of activity. The leading directions in the country are tourism, restaurant and hotel business. Therefore, any enterprise that meets the demand and requirements of tourists will bring a good profit.
  2. Determining the status of an organization. Usually, Russian entrepreneur two options are offered: become a partner of an existing organization or open your own private enterprise. In this matter, you should consult with a qualified lawyer who will help determine the specifics of the relationship between entrepreneurs, competitors and government agencies.
  3. Registration of a business visa. To obtain a visa, an entrepreneur will need an approved business plan. In addition, the consent of the Thai partners to conduct this activity should be submitted. The necessary documentation should be issued at the Thai embassy in Russia. After obtaining a visa, a foreign entrepreneur goes to Thailand to register his own enterprise.
  4. Search for partners. At this stage, it is imperative to contact a lawyer. The specialist will help to competently draw up the necessary documentation, select and rent the best place (building) for a new enterprise. It should be noted that the purchase of premises will cost much more than monthly rent, it is impossible to buy a room on your own. Therefore, it is recommended to make a purchase together with Thai partners.

Buying a ready-made business

Buying a business in another country is a rather complicated process, requiring maximum responsibility and care. First, the company offering you buy a business in Thailand , must have documentation confirming the right to carry out this activity.

Secondly, the business offered to you must be registered, have the necessary documentation, statutory fund and, in most cases, recruited personnel. The advantages of buying a ready-made business lie, first of all, in the established relationship of the previous manager with partners, competitors and the state. You just have to take matters into your own hands and continue the established business. The main disadvantage is the risk in choosing.

Ignorance of the intricacies of conducting this case, documentation in a foreign language and other nuances, can lead to serious consequences and loss of funds.

Experienced businessmen recommend getting good experience work in the area in which you wish to invest, be sure to use the services of a lawyer and translator, competently check any information related to your case.

Be sure to consult with your compatriots, surprise the local population with unique ideas, improve your professional skills, carefully study the basics of legislation and foreign languages. With proper management of activities at each stage, you will definitely achieve your goals!

Thailand is a wonderful country not only for recreation, but also for living and earning, probably the best option to move to the kingdom for permanent residence is to open your own business. Can buy ready business in Thailand, but it makes sense to build it from scratch. In the article, it is superficial what kind of business in Thailand has disadvantages for Russians.

In Thailand, foreigners are prohibited from engaging in certain types of activities, which you can read more about in the article "". Here we will look at the most advantageous views business in Thailand that any foreigner can do.

Such establishments are always in demand at any resort. Of course, you will have to constantly fight with competitors, but if you approach the issue wisely, everything will work out. Here are the main points to think about in advance:

  • Location selection
  • The style of the institution and the range of dishes and drinks
  • Assessment of customer solvency

In general, everything is like everywhere else, you need to take into account the specifics of visitors. Thais do not visit good restaurants, bars and cafes. Therefore, you need to rely only on foreigners. Remember that an expensive restaurant will not take root in a place where there are no rich tourists, and a cheap cafe will not pay off on a beach with a large rent.

IMPORTANT:
In Thailand, there is such a thing as "key money" (key money) - this is a deposit that the tenant makes after the conclusion of the contract. And it does not return under any circumstances. The amount of key money depends on the location of the rented premises, its size, amenities, etc. In a good location, it can be $20,000 or more.

Russian grocery store

It is no secret that not everyone perceives Thai food normally because of its specificity. Many Russians and immigrants from the CIS already after a month of eating local dishes suffer from disorders, and sometimes it comes to the hospital. Therefore, most of them try to cook at home, but some products, such as cereals, pickles, sausages, are simply not available in Thailand.

Nostalgia for a past life also plays a significant role. Not everyone will be able to forever abandon banal sprats and even sprats. Yes, in some places you can find products from the CIS, and in some cities (if you're lucky) you can find a Russian store. But the assortment in it will be very scarce, and the prices will be sky-high.

Such a business in Thailand has several big advantages:

  • No need to spend money on advertising - word of mouth works among the diaspora
  • No need to rent expensive premises - you will be found even in a remote area
  • No need for large investments - even cheap products can be sold at exorbitant prices

Vehicle rental point

A lot of foreigners are engaged in this business, since a license costs a penny, and you can earn pretty well. Nevertheless, no one is engaged in dumping, and there is always a demand for mopeds or cars. And for the season, from October to March, you can easily earn for the whole year.

It’s easy to start your own business - register a company (we wrote about this in the article “How to open a business in Thailand for Russians - chips that few people know about”), rent a room, get a license and buy mopeds or cars. Naturally, the type of vehicles and their number depends on your investment. But the payback is also: the more expensive the transport, the more it makes sense to ask for its rental. Usually, the cost of renting a car in Thailand for a month costs 5-8% of its full price.

As for mopeds, they are rented for 10-20% of the cost. This is due to the fact that they have to be repaired more often. But in Thailand, the repair of a bike will cost mere pennies - a smashed-up Honda, which costs about $700 (25,000 baht), will be fully restored for a third of this amount, including parts. And you can rent such a moped for 100-200 dollars a month.

Here are some other benefits of this type of business:

  • Tai has excellent roads, so cars and bikes are “not killed”
  • Low cost of repairs and spare parts
  • A mild climate has a positive effect on the safety of a car or moped

Business in Thailand for Russians Problems Cons of opening a rental office Vehicle will be that big competition. and good places to open this type of business are already taken.

Many who want to earn money simply get a job as a guide. Many such people work in Phuket and Pattaya, but it should be noted that most of them do not work officially. After all, the legislation of Thailand forbids foreigners to conduct excursions. Such a violation of local laws, of course, threatens with a prison.

Despite the prohibitions, you can find a vacancy for a guide quite easily, but by agreeing to conduct excursions, you are at great risk. Companies that are interested in a Russian-speaking guide are trying to get around the laws. They are a Thai guide is hired, and a foreigner is attached to him as an interpreter or just a tourist. Our compatriots take risks and lose everything in the Kingdom acquired by overwork in their homeland.

However, there are also happy stories of earnings. Not much has been written about them: our people are not used to boasting about business success. But for the ZagraNitsa portal, expats anonymously shared their ideas for an effective business.

Shop on eBay

Investments - from $2000

Monthly profit - from $100

First of all, study the customs and mail rules of Thailand - the tariffs and delivery times for parcels, goods prohibited for shipment (according to reviews, liquids have recently been added to the list), as well as possible duties for both the buyer and the seller.

We get ourselves several accounts on eBay and one in payment system PayPal. Further, the main components of success will be high-quality photos and a wide range. It is advisable to test the goods selected for sale and give true reviews, but it is not necessary to have your own warehouse - purchases can be made as orders are received. It is unprofitable to send very small orders in terms of time and labor costs, and therefore we set a limit, for example, at $150.

Among all positions, you need to have several with a low purchase price and a maximum margin - they will become your main source of income. And the last tip: do not forget to monitor the prices and offers of competitors.

Motorcycle rental

Investments - from $30,000

Monthly profit - from $800

The owners of rentals recommend starting such a business only if you get a reliable Thai partner, or better, a Thai wife. In addition to opening a company, renting space and buying bikes, there are a number of non-obvious, but mandatory items. For example, agreements with other distributors. An attempt to compete with the Thais for farang ends up in open conflict or problems with the police.

Also, your Thai companion or employee will have to write out contracts and contact the police if the bike is lost. According to statistics, up to 30% of the motorcycle fleet disappears along with the tenants! Please note: by filing a report with the police about the theft, you will ensure that the tourist is included in the "black list", but most likely you will not return the lost money.

You will need a small fleet of vehicles, Thai staff (for example, a driver’s salary starts at 15,000 baht), public company with a mandatory deposit and license. As well as a deep knowledge of the history and culture of Thailand. Then it's up to diligence, a good season and elementary luck.

Many Russians dream of moving to Thailand for permanent residence. But after 2014, it’s no longer enough to rent out your grandmother’s apartment to live in clover in the Land of Smiles. People get out of the situation in different ways: someone finds an employer in Russia and eventually switches to remote work, someone becomes a freelancer and, having a constant pool of orders, works in his villa in the tropics. And someone, and it doesn’t matter what kind of business to do there.

Approximately so did Chief Editor magazine Reconomica. Alexander will tell readers about whether it is difficult for a foreigner to open small business in Thailand, which will feed its owner.

Hello, people, Bald is with you. This is how I usually start when I'm making a video. And now I don't know where to start. Let me start by saying that I am the editor-in-chief of this magazine. Before the New Year, we conducted a survey in the VK group. Readers are interested in stories about small businesses and the history of moving to another country. Well, I have a couple.

It's me. But you could guess by the cap.

Generally, I lead vlog about business and personal finance, and for a long time I myself did not write anything to the magazine - I just keep order so that the stories sent are published regularly. But since people want stories about business and other countries, and the material is scarce (few people want to share information), we will have to shake the old days. If you have a personal business story, send it to us in the magazine we will publish with pleasure.

And what, so it was possible?

I first visited Thailand in 2011. After the gray and dull Moscow, it was just an immersion in another world. As I remember now: an excursion to the River Kwai. I am swimming in a life jacket along the river, elephants roam along the shore, on the other side there is a small waterfall, aftertaste from sweet and sour strafrut in my mouth, it shines in the sky bright sun and fly home in a couple of days.

And then for the first time the thought dawned on me: “What did I forget there in Russia at all?”

The thought was terrible, one might say, seditious. I didn’t know then that you can live wherever you want, and not exclusively where you were “born and useful”. The thought matured for a long time and I came to Tai on short visits. If I spend money, I will get upset and go back to the Russian Federation to earn money. This happened several times.

Most Russians remind me of a girl from a joke who ordered a huge nose and long ears from the Golden Fish, and then was surprised that one could wish to become beautiful and rich. Whoever you ask - everyone wants to travel, the sea and the sun, but for some reason they spend money on car loans and mortgages. I myself was like that.

Where does the money for a luxurious life abroad come from? Bourgeois, probably!

Not to say that my life was especially chic. I have (my wife actually has) a house in a village in northern Thailand. We live in a rented apartment in Pattaya, simply because in the village you can go crazy with boredom. From the property we have a used moped ... and a couple of bags of rags.

I don't seem to be hungry. Like a pool next to it. I can even go to the water park if I want, right in the middle of the working day. Warm outside. Well, thanks for that.

A ticket to the old city water park costs 200 rubles per person.

To tell my entire biography in order is also long and does not make much sense. I will say that I have a common-law Thai wife, and this is the main reason why I live in Thailand. I have not been in Russia for almost 2 years at the time of this writing.

You, of course, ask, what about the work, but where does the money come from?

At that time I was trading in the stock market. In fact, I was initially not tied to a place, the most frightening thing was the instability of earnings. But it was a long time ago. The trading capital, inherited from my grandfather in the form of an apartment, I ate up a long time ago. A magazine brings a couple of kopecks, and I live on them. Income instability? Today I am too old to bother with such trifles.

Nevertheless, working with the magazine leaves a lot of free time and gives little free money, so I periodically test different business ideas: some online, some offline. This story is about how my wife and I started a small business in Pattaya.

Is it possible for a Russian to open a business in Thailand

Not really.

That is, you can open a company, employ several Thais in it, give them shares, and then this company will be able to issue you a work permit, and you can even register your property on it. But it's expensive and unnecessary. This is the economy that exists only in the heads of high Thai officials, the real economy functions differently here (does it remind you of anything?)

Local laws and reality

When real foreign investor he needs to open a company, he turns to lawyers, lawyers provide 4 Thai alcoholics required by law (on paper co-founders), who sign an additional agreement that they received dividends from the company in full for all future years of activity, up to the second coming of the Buddha. But this applies only to real international firms.

When you just want to open a tent, you find a Thai seller who enters into a lease agreement with the landlord retail space and open the tent. This is where all the documents and approvals end. You can trade anything (in the sense, your Thai can trade, the neighbors will quickly snitch on a foreigner behind the counter without a work permit, the immigration police will come with a raid and ... no, of course, they won’t put you in jail, but will demand a bribe).

Sanitary regulations, tax reporting and fire safety requirements in Thailand

In the real physical world, there are no health regulations in Thailand, tax reporting, industrial safety standards and other bureaucratic nonsense. No, all this probably exists somewhere on paper, but who read these papers, they are in Thai!

In theory, if you have a small business earning more than 30 thousand baht per month (about $ 1,000), you need to register with the tax office and pay taxes. But in the real physical world, the tax office can come with a check that can never reveal anything, because all the hawkers' settlements with customers are in cash without the use of a cash register.

Thais pay for such economic freedom with an old-age pension of $20. Therefore, there is a long tradition of financial maintenance of elderly parents by children. But let's not delve into the features of the Thai mentality, let's talk about business.

You can buy a bike, attach a cart to it, put a used gas cylinder in it, buy chicken from a neighbor without any certificates for meat, and sell it right on the bike in the middle of the street, after frying it on a gas burner. Of course, without gloves. Gloves are an extra expense, and the business is very competitive, the minimum margin does not allow you to spend money on such luxuries as disposable gloves.

Of course, this is only if you are Thai, otherwise see above about the immigration police. However, this does not stop every second Russian from implementing the ingenious and unique idea of opening a cafe of Russian cuisine with a Thai chef on the minimum wage (10 dollars a day) on the first plot of Thai land that they like.

When there is nothing to do, you can stir up a business out of boredom

In general, I will not retell all the features of Thai laws and my biography, the story begins at the end of 2017. My wife and I were bored, plus we were financially broke after traveling and building a house.

From time to time we ride around the country. I love watching waterfalls, there are a lot of them.

The magazine was then just launched and did not bring income. I would like to have some additional source of income. We thought about what to do, and decided that we should open a business. So the wife will be in business (work is tight here, it is forbidden for foreigners without a work visa, and Thais all get plus or minus the same: 8000-20000 baht. With our money, this is 16-40 thousand rubles. In general, I wanted to attach my wife so that this would bring some money to the house, and her work would not oppress her, and there would be prospects for payback and expansion.

Selling Hong Kong waffles

We found an inexpensive Chinese waffle franchise. We went to study. The waffles didn't go straight away. We rented an unfortunate place where there were no sales at all. I had to move out of there urgently and give a deposit. The business started with a loss. We moved to Jomtien night market. There was traffic, but the place is also not very good, the merchants there barely make ends meet.

I see no reason to retell in text what I have already said in the video blog, so I will insert the entire story. I will say in addition that I did not participate physically in the trade (see the paragraph about the immigration police). I was engaged in calculations, helped to transport, bring, buy, which also took a lot of time and effort, but was not a violation.

I kept statistics on earnings in the table. Here is a piece of it.

Cake business

In general, waffles sold poorly, and we decided to supplement the assortment with cakes. And then sloths. And jelly. We even bought a popcorn machine. And they opened a second point in the morning market.

But there was one problem with the cakes - they were poorly stored. More on this in the second part of the video.

The night market is focused on tourists, and half of the year, when there are few tourists, traders simply survive. Therefore, this model worked for only one season.

financial result

The main reason for the closure? Overwork.

Due to the fact that when hiring a seller, the profit came to naught (and due to their own stubbornness). In the off-season, trading did not make sense, it was clear from the declining profits. In general, I did not drive my wife and decided to close the business.

I looked at my long-suffering plate now. Seems like a plus. In total, we earned 77 thousand baht, or about 150 thousand rubles for 4 months of the season from December to March. By the standards of Russian regions, this may even seem like a good result. But this is for the work of two people seven days a week, half the time in two shifts (morning / night market). And the equipment did not have time to fully pay off.

We sold the equipment for next to nothing. Partially, I took into account depreciation, but still there was an additional loss on the equipment. Waffle machines, for example, went for 1,000 baht, although we bought them as part of a franchise for 20-something thousand. So that financial results close to zero. In general, the cat cried real profits there, but this is a cool life experience. It was interesting.

Vporchem, we did not get bored for a long time, and then we bought a laundry. But that's another story. If you are interested, subscribe to my channel on Youtube, I tell my business cases there.
