Internet via mobile phone computer. Connecting mobile internet on a computer via phone

Internet connection methods

Three methods of connecting to the Internet are available:

Mobile Internet, provided by the mobile operator, is available after manual or automatic configuration. There are no restrictions on movement (as is the case with Wi Fi), but the proximity to the tower affects the quality of the signal. The network access service, if there is no free traffic in the tariff plan, is paid. Most operators provide package offers with a certain amount of traffic. At the end of non-tariffed MB, money is withdrawn from the main account, so it is recommended to set limits on traffic.

WiFi hotspot provides access to the network wirelessly through a router connected to the provider's cable. The router distributes the Internet to several devices and is more often installed at home or in public places: cafe, bar, bank or shop. Such points rarely have limited traffic, but the coverage area does not exceed 12-15 meters. There is no setting except for entering a password.

Modem with Wi Fi module- an intermediate solution that combines wireless and mobile connectivity. The Internet is provided through a fixed or wired number, and access to the network is carried out through the Wi Fi module. This allows you to distribute the Internet between several devices: smartphone, tablet or computer. And thanks to the built-in power supply, wireless modems are able to work autonomously.

Navigation

Modern mobile phones have many applications and serve people not only as a means of communication, but also as a video camera, mp3 player, hard drive, TV, game console, and even as a full-fledged computer.

However, most people still do not know that in addition to all of the above, a mobile phone can replace a portable modem that can be connected to a desktop computer or laptop and access the Internet.
This feature is indispensable on long trips when there is no way to connect to Wi-Fi, and you forgot the USB modem at home or do not use it at all. How to connect a laptop to the Internet using a mobile phone? We will tell you in this article

What should you know before connecting?

  • The first and most important condition that you should know is that one of the operating systems must be installed on the phone: Android, iOS or Windows phone . Also, the device must support data transfer via 3G/HSDPA. Otherwise, the computer will not recognize the device as a modem and will not get access to the network
  • It is equally important to remember that the speed of connecting to the Internet using a mobile phone will be several times lower than when connected via a full-fledged USB modem. Be prepared for slow page loading and frequent connection drops
  • Also, do not forget that mobile operators set quite high prices for 1 MB of transmitted and received data, and unlimited tariffs very limited traffic. For mobile devices, these prices are quite reasonable, but using mobile Internet on a computer can hit your pocket hard
  • The fact is that Internet pages download all the content available on them from a computer. Including ads and auto-playing flash-rollers that weigh very decently and destroy your traffic in a couple of minutes
  • It is recommended to use this connection method only if it is not possible to use any other type of connection. It will suit you only for viewing mail and text pages. If you want to listen to music, watch videos and movies, you should get a USB modem, which can be purchased from any mobile operator

Hi all! Modern smartphones have on board a full range of wireless communications - primarily a cellular module and Wi-Fi. But how can you connect to the Internet from your phone if you have neither Wi-Fi access nor, for example, money in your account? However, there is a computer nearby. wired connection. Will it save?

How to save! Yes, a smartphone can be connected to a computer, and through it - to the Internet. Such a task is quite rare for current users (more often it is necessary the other way around), but it can be solved.

Consider below the two most common options for today - Android and iOS. Forgive us Blackberry and Lumia owners, but "your tastes are very specific", so you will have to look for instructions on more specialized resources.

How to connect an Android smartphone to the Internet through a computer

Before you connect your phone to the Internet through a computer, you will have to provide both devices with an application that will bring out all the hidden settings. At one time, the leader in this area was the WiredTether application, which is still mentioned in many instructions walking around the network today. However, today, it is impossible to find it on Google Play. And copies saved on independent resources (like w3bsit3-dns.com) may not work with new versions of Android. The last copy saved is dated January 2012.

We have found alternative ways to solve the problem. The Reverse Tethering NoRoot Free app is available on Google Play (Developed by Florian Draschbacher). Since it works on the "client-server" principle, it will have to be installed twice - on a computer and on a smartphone. The good news is that it doesn't matter what kind of computer you have at hand. The application exists for Windows, OS X and Linux.

For the full operation of the computer part of the application, you will need to install it (if it is not already installed, the application itself will redirect you to the installation page). Then connect your smartphone and computer with a cable.

If the message “Allow USB debugging with this computer?” appears on your smartphone, check the box in the right place and click “OK”. Similarly, if the firewall on your computer blocks the Java application from communicating with the network, you should allow the application to connect.

After that, the smartphone will use Internet access through the computer as soon as you connect it to the PC with a cable. Note that some applications may not recognize such a connection and behave as if the smartphone is offline. Then you should open the Reverse Tethering main window, go to the Settings, go to the Mode menu and switch between Mode 1 and Mode 2. The developer does not explain the difference between these two modes, but promises that switching between them helps . Another way is to disconnect and reconnect the cable.

Of course, you will ask: “How to install the application on a smartphone if it does not yet have Internet access? Maybe first think about how to connect a smartphone to the Internet through a computer? There are two answers to this question:

1) Download the installation file to your computer from third-party sources (for example, apkmirror). Then copy it to your smartphone via USB cable and run it. We proceed from the fact that the computer is at your fingertips and connected to the Internet, and there is also a cable - otherwise there is no point in the whole undertaking.

2) Install the application on your smartphone in advance, without waiting for an emergency. It takes up little space and does not consume system resources until it is running. But you can download the computer part when, so to speak, a roasted rooster arrives.

The application is not officially Russified, however, you will not need to have a particularly deep knowledge of the language of Shakespeare and Lennon.

On the other hand, the free version only provides you with intermittent connection - 10 minutes, then a half-hour break. To enjoy constant communication, you need to buy full version for 6-7 dollars: the instability of the exchange rate does not allow to say more precisely. As an option - to find on third-party resources (we will do without links, not small ones) an already “cured” version, which is also translated into Russian. There you can also ask for advice in case of problems.

How to connect iPhone to the Internet through a computer

And in this case, the reverse task is also more often - they usually connect a computer via a smartphone, but we need it the other way around. Owners of "apple" technology are less fortunate: such painless methods as on Android are not provided in principle. This does not mean that there are no solutions. This means it will be difficult.

Before you connect your iPhone to the Internet through a computer, you need to make sure that Wi-Fi is available at least on the computer. This is a fairly common case: perhaps there is no router in the place where you are, but a laptop with a built-in Wi-Fi module acts as a computer, or somewhere in the box there was a “whistle” connected via USB.

In this case, distribution from a computer via Wi-Fi will help. Since the ad hoc mode was removed in Windows 8 and later, before distributing the Internet to the phone through the computer, you will have to install the program for the access point mode. We recommend the app. By installing it, you can easily create an access point on your computer, which you will later find from your iPhone.

All this, of course, is useless if the computer is deprived of Wi-Fi or the wireless module in your iPhone is out of order. In this case, however, everything is also not hopeless.

You can try the method proposed in 2015 by Eric Ma for use on Internet iPhone from a Windows computer.

  1. Open settings network connections(Networks and Internet / Network Connections), select the adapter in the list of equipment through which you access the network. Right click on it and select Disable. Leave the window with the list of adapters open.
  2. Connect your iPhone to your computer with a cable. Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned off.
  3. Go to the iPhone settings section, in the "Tethering mode" tab. When you see a pop-up notification asking you to either turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth or use a USB tethering, choose to use USB.
  4. At this point, the computer should recognize your iPhone as a new network adapter and show it in the list of adapters. Right-click on it and put both checkmarks in the "Internet Connection Sharing" item. Enable the services you need in the Services menu.
  5. Turn back on the adapter you are using to access the Internet.

To make sure that you are using the Internet through a computer, you can use the Internet (internet.yandex.ru). The IP of your computer and iPhone must match.

This method seems simple and logical, but it does not always work. Among the many combinations of versions of Windows and iOS, not all support the distribution of the Internet in such a simple method. To find out if your computer is compatible with your phone, all that remains is to check.

But if not, don't despair (a sly laugh should follow here). There is a way to connect to an Ethernet network without a computer at all! True, for this you need an incredible combination of cables and adapters:

  1. Camera Connection Kit. Connects to iPhone's Lightning port
  2. USB cable. Connects to Camera Connection Kit and USB hub (required with external power supply)
  3. USB hub. External power is required. It connects a USB cable from the Connection Kit and an adapter (see below)
  4. USB to Ethernet adapter (made by Apple for Macbook, which has recently lost its own Ethernet port). Connects to the hub.
  5. Ethernet cable. Connects to the adapter and to the port of the router.

Voila! Just five ingredients that you somehow miraculously found (or you prepared, like Phileas Fogg in the cartoon “Around the World in 80 Days”). Total cost this set is about $70-80 (considering that standard Apple adapters cost $29 each, and you will need two of them). And you connect to the Internet without using external Wi-Fi! Honestly, looking at this design, you begin to understand why Chinese manufacturers at the beginning of the tablet fever often offered tablets with an already built-in Ethernet port.

Summing up, we can say that, in principle, the task of connecting an Android or iOS device to the Internet through a computer is solvable. True, in each case there are nuances that can cost time or money. Therefore, either think about whether you need it (and then have all the necessary applications and a set of adapters with you), or tune in to search on your own. Perhaps you will discover more interesting and simpler ways.
