Good evening, readers. Today I would like to tell you about one interesting photo editor that I came across in a review. I am writing to you about it because it is actually an analogue of Lightroom, but with very interesting and unusual functionality, which I will tell you about a little later.
I decided to try the Movavi photo editor for the reason that for minor photo editing or, for example, watermark overlays, Photoshop is not very suitable due to the very long loading speed of the program. For clarity, I decided to compare it with Lightroom and took a photograph, which I had already used in one of the lessons. I'll try to process the same photo using Movavi.

The settings panel is partially similar to Lightroom's, only a little more modest, but this is enough for amateur and, most importantly, very fast processing.

I tried to twist the sliders, I got a good result for a minute (!) processing.

Now let's move on to the interesting stuff, something that is not even in Lightroom or is only partially available. For example, filters or processing in one button.

But, if filters are not surprising, because they are now implemented in most editors, then the next thing I saw made me happy.
For example, high-quality and easy face retouching; most likely, this is what the developers focused on. Since we worked on the treatment of every part of the face.

And now what convinced me to use the program. It often happens that you take a good photo and see that everything is fine, but the people... Unfortunately, this happens if the place is popular. When I saw that it was possible to delete objects, I thought that here it would either be of poor quality or very long, because what could be better than my favorite Photoshop? Maybe... I struggled with removing people from my photo using Photoshop for about 20 minutes; in Movavi, removing a person turned out to be a 30-second task. Honestly? This shocked me. Naturally, this is not all that this editor can please. For example, imposing the same watermarks.

What can we say in general about this photo editor? Yes, Movavi will not replace Lightroom or, especially, Photoshop. But don't forget how much they cost. Yes, professional processing in Lightroom will be of higher quality and more elaborate. But not everyone needs it, because there are people who take photographs for themselves and don’t need it. You can retouch better in Photoshop, but does everyone know how to do it? Photoshop can also handle removing objects, but it is much longer and more difficult. And there are many such “buts”, which is why Movavi will take a place near the Photoshop and Lightroom shortcuts.

Is Movavi Video Is Editor safe to use?

Same marketing ploy happens with the Mac version too. As soon as I finished installing the Movavi app, a web page automatically opened showing that I could get a special deal to save 40% if I purchased the full version.

To confirm that this was a misleading offer, I opened the store page again in Incognito mode to bypass any stored cookies, and it turned out there was no such offer.

A closer look at the Movavi video editor

When you download the software, you are given a number of options. We'll look at the Slideshow Wizard later, but for now we'll create a project in full-featured mode to test out the full range of video editing features.

Before we do this, we need to make sure that all default settings are acceptable. I'd prefer to run at the default 1080p resolution instead of 720p, but the program can handle up to 4096 x 2160, which is actually higher than 4K (3840 x 2160 resolution).

Import media into Movavi

The first step in any video project is to import media, and it's very easy to do in Movavi Video Editor. The only problem I have with their video editor is that you don't have an internal library to work with, but instead your files are added directly to your project timeline as soon as you import them.

If you're only working with a few files in Movavi, this won't be a problem, but if you're creating something more complex, you'll either have to add them as needed, or add them all at once and sort the resulting mess using a timeline.

On the plus side, I didn't experience any lag when rearranging HD videos on the timeline, so at least that aspect of the process is pretty smooth and easy.

It's also easy to record video directly into the program using a compatible device such as a webcam or connected video camera, although I don't have any such devices at the moment so I wasn't able to test this aspect of the Movavi program. For those of you who make tutorial videos or other similar content, this will be a big help.

Another problem that arose when importing media came when I tried to check the screen capture feature - only to find that the feature was not in the Movavi program.

Instead, the badge is simply a link to a demo or purchase of their more powerful Movavi Video Suite program, which would have been very annoying if I had already purchased the Video Editor program instead of just testing out the trial version.

Editing videos in Movavi

Editing a video that you have imported is quite easy to do, although there are some odd interface choices here. It's not a huge problem, but it did help me pause for a second before I realized. The video editing tools appear right above the timeline, but because the various panels are separated, they appear to be part of the effects control panel rather than part of the timeline. This may be the result of a difficult choice due to the range of available screen resolutions, but it is probably the best solution.

Editing tools in Movavi are simple and straightforward. I was able to cut out parts of my video where I was rotating the camera and then cropped the resulting vertical video to remove the blacks side panels in just a few clicks.

Another small issue with the Movavi interface appeared here when setting up the location. since I was not able to constrain the axis of motion of the border crop window. It didn't stick to location either, which means if I wasn't very careful, I could end up with a few pixels of the sidebar still visible on one side of my video. Again, not a big problem, but an example of a customization that could easily be implemented while improving the user experience.

Applying effects in Movavi

Movavi Video Editor Comes with an impressive range of transitions, filters and other effects c, although there is currently no way to expand the range of options beyond what is included in the program. By clicking "Do you want more?" and it will take you to a web page about the upcoming Movavi Effects store.

Applying any of these effects is as simple as dragging them onto the desired clip in the timeline section, or you can apply any effect to all clips by right-clicking and selecting Apply to All Clips.

This may mean that some clips are a bit overworked, but Movavi has a nice, straightforward way of showing you every effect applied to a specific clip. Clicking on the star icon in the top left corner of each clip shows full list applied effects, including rotations, speed changes and stabilization.

The Movavi program also has a fairly standard set of headings and callout add-ons (arrows, circles, speech, etc.), although the range available options still a bit limited. Hopefully there will be a lot more options when the effects store opens, but the current presets are still sufficient to create even if they aren't creative masterpieces.

Additional Movavi editing tools

There are some useful additional video tools, including color adjustments, slow motion, image stabilization, and color tonality (also called green screen).

Last but not least, Movavi has an impressive set of tools for editing your project's audio, including equalizer, normalization, beat detection, noise reduction, and various audio distortion effects. You also have the ability to record voiceovers from within the program, which is another useful feature for textbook creators or any other situation where you want to add a bit of commentary.

The only thing I would like to see in this area is the ability to smooth out sound effects, or at least have more control over how they are applied.

Movavi's noise reduction was mostly successful. capable of completely drowning out the sound of the wind running in the background during one of my videos. Oddly enough, it took half a second to start at the beginning of the clip, and I thought it might just be something that happens during the unloaded preview, but it was still present in the final version.

Export and exchange in Movavi

Now that I've prepared my video masterpiece, I'm ready to export it. The video editing software includes the ability to share directly with a Youtube account, and the login process was extremely smooth and error-free. It was a nice change from other experiences I've had with integration into social media, and will become a real desktop for Youtube fans.

Of course, once I installed all of this and clicked on the big green "Export" button, it helped me remember the trial limits of the Movavi software before allowing me to continue.

When you're in the export screen in Movavi, you have a wide range of options for preparing your videos. There isn't as much control over export options as other programs have, but there aren't many situations where it's actually useful to change bitrate and other high-tech settings. Instead, for most casual users, this simple set of options will make the export process smoother and easier than other programs.

I wanted to test out the upload feature in Movavi, so I selected the "Upload Online" tab and the seamless integration process continued - and even went so far as to upload my picture.

After changing the Privacy setting to Private, I began the export and download process. The rendering itself went pretty smoothly, but I had issues with the automatic loading aspect.

However, this was not Movavi's fault, as it turned out that I did not have the proper channel configured on my account Youtube. A quick visit to the site fixed this and once I tried to start again everything went smoothly.

Of course there were still watermarks, but otherwise it turned out pretty good! Although it is not a professional video editor, but Movavi Video Editor is ideal for quick access to videos online or with friends and family.

Slideshow Master in Movavi

As I mentioned earlier, Movavi Video Editor also includes a slideshow wizard for quickly creating animated slideshows. It's entirely possible to do this in full functionality mode, but if you regularly make slideshows, this is a quick and easy way to get everything set up with minimal effort.

With just a few clicks you can import as many photos as you want. As many as you like, choose a set of transitions to apply between slides, and add some music for extra ambiance. The wizard then outputs the result as a pre-configured project with everything already neatly arranged in the main timeline, ready for export.

Movavi isn't the most full-featured video editor, but it's not bad. It does a great job of giving casual, newbie users the ability to edit, join, and mix video and audio into a new creative project. If you want to experiment with more advanced features like chromatic keying, Movavi lets you create impressive results with minimal effort.

The price of $39.95 is reasonable enough for a basic video editor at this level, and it comes with a lifetime of software updates. However, Movavi also makes a slightly more expensive but more fully featured program that costs just over $59.95, making this price option a little less attractive. Plus, their pricing gimmick of encouraging users to buy thinking they're getting a special deal is a bit .

Ease of use in Movavi

Movavi has a well-designed interface that makes it easy to learn, even for those users who are new to the world of video editing. For those who are completely new to the idea of working with video for the first time, the program has built-in quick teaching aids on how to use each function. The only issues with the user interface are fairly minor and shouldn't pose a problem for most potential editors.

Support in Movavi

Movavi does an excellent job of providing instruction within the program, but also pays close attention to additional online support with a large knowledge base of articles and guides on its website. The program itself appears to still be under active development. I never felt the need to contact the support team for further assistance, which is a testament to how well designed the Movavi program is now.

Recently, creating your own video clips has become very popular. And today I bring to your attention a video editing program from the Movavi company with the “original” name Movavi Video Editor. The video editor is positioned as a simple and affordable solution to create video projects, and we will try to find out if this statement is true.

Let's start with installation.

Installation

The program supports installation on any Microsoft client operating system that is more or less current at the moment, from Windows XP to Windows 10. There is also a version for Mac.

The hardware requirements are somewhat more complicated. For comfortable to work you will need a normal multi-core processor (such as Core I5 or I7), at least 4GB RAM and a video card supporting OpenGL 2.1 and higher. The installation requires about 300MB of disk space and the program will require another 2GB for stable operation. This does not take into account the fact that storing projects will also require disk space. You also need a sound card to record and play audio.

The video editor is not free; its cost at the time of writing is 1,290 rubles. You can also download a seven-day trial version of the editor. This version has full functionality, but stops working a week after installation, and all saved projects are watermarked with the Movavi logo. Not an option for work, but quite suitable for dating.

The installation procedure itself is quite simple and does not cause any difficulties. Just run the installer, select the language

Settings

This is what the program window looks like. In principle, you can start working right away, but first it’s worth doing some additional settings. To do this, select “Settings” - “Options” from the menu.

The “General” tab contains global program settings. Here you can change the interface language, configure updates, disable pop-ups, etc. Also, if desired, you can enable the collection and sending of statistics about the operation of the program.

On the Files tab, you can set a location to save your projects. By default, they are saved in the user profile, which is not always convenient.

Well, on the “Acceleration” tab you can activate hardware acceleration functions, of course, if your hardware supports them.

It is worth noting that the program has a fairly convenient system of help and tips, and on the manufacturer’s website you can find fairly detailed documentation, so we won’t dwell on the settings and move on to the project.

Creating a Project

You can use ready-made audio and video files or images as the basis for the project. The program can also capture video from the screen or from an external device (camcorder, TV tuner, etc.). For my project I will take one of my favorite films “Gentlemen of Fortune” and edit it a little.

The first thing to do is open new project and add files to it. The added files immediately appear on the timeline, where you can perform various actions on them. Videos and images are on the video track, and audio files are on the audio track.

If necessary, you can change basic project settings, such as screen size and resolution, frame rate and sound quality. To change project settings, click on the pencil at the bottom of the screen and select the desired values.

Having finished with the settings, let's start editing. The film is too long, so first of all we'll cut a small piece out of it. To trim the video, set the slider to the beginning of the desired fragment and click on the scissors icon on the toolbar. The file is cut into two parts and to remove the excess, select the unnecessary fragment and click on the trash can icon.

Then move the slider to the end of the fragment and repeat the procedure. The result was a small clip lasting about 3 minutes.

The next step is to apply the filter. To do this, go to the next tab, select a filter and click on it. For my project, I chose a retro filter that will make the clip black and white.

Let's go to the next tab and add a transition to the end of the clip. Although it is not really needed there, let it be.

Since our clip is in black and white, captions will fit perfectly with it. To add titles, you need to select the style you like, drag it onto the pasteboard, place it on the screen and edit the text. The procedure is simple, but requires some experience; I succeeded on about the third try.

On the next tab, you can select shapes (arrows, circles, etc.) and also add them to the clip. The adding procedure is similar to the previous one - select a shape, transfer it to the clip, place it in the desired place on the screen and edit the text inside. I had to tinker with the figures a little longer, but the end result was quite funny.

Let's stop mocking the film here and save the result. To save, click the big green “Save” button, select the settings to save and click “Start”. Depending on the size of the project and the quality settings selected, saving may take some time.

To summarize, I’ll say that Movavi’s video editor is really simple and understandable, at least I had extremely positive impressions of working with it. It is easy to use and has an intuitive interface that even a child who is not a very experienced user can understand.

Despite its simplicity, the Movavi video editor has quite extensive functionality for working with video. It can work with most popular audio and video formats, including for mobile devices. With its help, you can capture video from third-party sources - from the screen, webcam or TV tuner. It allows you to cut clips, add titles and special effects, voice over, add sound and much more.

In addition, the program has a good built-in help system, and the missing information can be found on the program website, in the support section. In general, Movavi’s documentation is in perfect order; there are user manuals on the website, step by step instructions and even video tutorials, which is not very common.

Of course, I am not an expert in the field of video processing, but it seems to me that the Movavi video editor is ideal for creating clips at home.

Oddly enough, it’s difficult to find a truly high-quality video editor. No, there are many good editors, but they also cost “bless you”!

Similar, free versions help, but have too few tools in their stock. Usually these are several effects, a trimming function, well, essentially, that’s all.
