The Internet is connected, but does not work: external reasons. Why the Internet is broken The Internet without problems is possible

Good afternoon, dear readers of the blog site. If your Internet cable (twisted pair) was gnawed by a dog or cat, it was transferred by furniture or was damaged in another mechanical way, then it can be restored without loss of aesthetic appearance and functional characteristics. Many, remembering the grandfather's way, in the old fashioned way, resort to twisting the cores and further winding with electrical tape. However, in this way it is not permissible to repair the Internet cable.

This method is well suited for breaking the power cable of devices and devices. Any twisting of the twisted pair cores is additional interference, loss of data packets that you can then feel during operation (speed reduction, communication breaks, etc.). By resorting to twisting, you lose the data transfer rate by an order of magnitude.

This article will describe a method for repairing an Internet cable in the event of a break in the area from the entrance to the apartment to connecting the device. If you have damaged or broken the connector, then you can read about its repair in a separate one.

This situation can also occur with the cable from the antenna. Therefore, I recommend that you read the article dedicated.

Required tool

To repair a damaged twisted pair, we need a few tools:

Cable stripping and cutting tool (stripper)

The stripper is needed to remove a certain piece of external insulation, as well as cut off the excess length of the wires. A knife can also be used to remove the insulation. However, be extremely careful not to damage the integrity of the cores.

Wire connector (scotchlock)

You need as many scotchlocks as you need to splice.

Connector crimping tool

If there is no such tool, then you can get by with simple pliers. However, as with a knife, you need to be careful, otherwise you can damage or crush the connector.

Internet cable repair (step by step)

To begin with, with the help of a stripper, we remove excess insulation in order to free the cores from it (about 2 centimeters). We untwist twisted pairs, for further simplicity of their installation in the connector.

Now, one by one, we take the cores of the same colors from different pieces of the cable and insert them all the way into the connector holes. Then we snap the scotchlock by pressing two fingers. Using a connector crimping tool, tighten the adhesive tape completely and then the wires will definitely not fall out. This operation must be carried out in turn with all the cores.

As a result of repairing the Internet wire, you will get a small bundle (as it looks like, see the figure below).

It is recommended to wrap this place with electrical tape for additional protection. But before finishing, I advise you to check your work and make sure that the Internet is working. To do this, you need to insert a compressed twisted pair cable into the connector of the device through which the network is organized (desktop computer, laptop or router). If everything works without failures, then you can safely protect the place of repair of the Internet cable.

I advise you to read the article about. Such a need may arise if you are going to redevelop the premises and the equipment will be moved to another location.

The struggle between Roskomnadzor and the Telegram messenger of the recalcitrant Pavel Durov led to an unexpected effect. In their attempt to regulate the Russian segment of the Internet, the authorities can simply break it. For this, the decision of judge Yulia Smolina to block this messenger, which was issued on April 13, 2018, was enough. Already on April 16, without waiting for the appeal to be considered, Roskomnadzor began systematically burning Telegram in the Russian Internet space.

The scale of persecution can be judged by the following figures. As soon as the first subnets were blocked, the messenger transferred its servers to new IP addresses, but the regulator continued to block them. By April 19, 18 million IP addresses had already been banned, although in all the previous years of Roskomnadzor's work, only 38 thousand were blocked. Roskomnadzor considered it possible to block the IP addresses used by the American corporation Amazon:

We uploaded the Amazon subnet, to which Telegram switched

More than 650 thousand network addresses fell under the distribution. Further more. The rebellious Telegram continued to change IP addresses, obtaining them from Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud cloud services in order to bypass the blocking. On April 22, Russian Internet users discovered problems using the American Google search engine and some of its services. In response to numerous complaints from users, representatives of Roskomnadzor said that Google did not satisfy the requirements of the regulator and, in violation of the decision of the Russian court, continues to allow the Telegram Messenger Limited Liability Partnership service to use its IP addresses:

Roskomnadzor entered into the register of prohibited information a number of Google IP addresses that are used by Telegram to carry out activities in the Russian Federation

Such bitterness in the work of Roskomnadzor is associated with the principled position of the state to prevent the appearance on the basis of the messenger beyond the control of the authorized bodies payment system with the Gram cryptocurrency, the intention to create which was voiced by Pavel Durov. The irony is that Telegram continues to work when a number of Russian banks, American Google and Amazon have fallen.

Experts note the tendency of the authorities to take control of the entire Internet space. The first website blocking in Russia began in 2012. In 2015, a law was passed obliging companies to transfer all data about Russian users of the global network to domestic servers. Was blocked in 2016 social network LinkedIn. There is an attempt to build a semblance of the "Great Chinese Firewall" in Russia.

Speculation has been made that the next on the list to take control could be the American Facebook.

speech delirium

the structure of the Internet is set by the backbone providers and no one else. The United States cannot turn off the Internet to anyone for a very long time, and national reservations are easily provided by a copy of the RIPE database (in the case of Russia) in terms of autonomous systems - i.e. 1 pathetic server reserves bgp4 functionality for Russian operators

the accidents that he spoke about, except for Iran and complete antiquity - a consequence of shortcomings and improper use of the bgp4 protocol, the elimination of "interference" will take 30 seconds, although the culprit will really remain without access to the network

the IP protocol is really very reliable, and all the glitches are located above. At the same time, if bgp4 “breaks”, that is, plan B - to work with your hands, it’s bad of course, but when there is no alternative ...

in short, a lot of things can be written, but the bottom line is that services over the Internet must be deployed correctly, i.e. decentralized and reserve 2 communication channels from different providers, then there will be no major troubles

We always write about solving some problems that arise when connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi. But, when connected via a regular network cable, everything is not always smooth either. Yes, there are fewer problems with such a connection, but I have already seen questions in the comments about problems when connecting via a LAN cable.

In this article, we will try to figure out what problems can arise when connecting a regular stationary computer, or a laptop (netbook) to the Internet via a network cable, through a router.

It is when connected through a router. If you directly connect the network cable from the provider, then this will already be a slightly different case, and other solutions.

When I wrote an article on how to connect a computer to a router via a network cable (LAN), I talked about solving some problems. In this article, I want to dwell on this in more detail.

As a rule, desktop computers are connected via cable, since they do not have built-in Wi-Fi receivers. But, this problem is very simply solved by purchasing an external Wi-Fi receiver. Highly good way get rid of unnecessary wires, which, in the case of connecting via a network cable, will have to be laid from the router to the computer.

So, the situation is this: you take a network cable (which, for example, was bundled with a router), and connect it to a computer (laptop) with a router. Everything is connected, but the Internet on the computer does not work.

What you need to pay attention to:

  • Whether another computer works through the same cable and from this router.
  • Does the Internet work on a problem computer if you connect it directly, without a router.
  • Is the LAN LED on the router lit.
  • What is the connection status on the computer. It may not change at all (for example, “Network cable is not connected”), it may not react in any way to connecting a network cable. Or there may be a permanent identification.

These are the most popular problems and nuances that you need to pay attention to. And how to solve them, we will now consider in more detail.

PC does not respond to LAN cable connection “No connections available”

We connect the cable to the router and the computer, to the network connector, but there is no reaction. Connection status (on the notification panel), computer with a red cross “No connections available”, which is displayed when the network cable is not connected, does not change after the cable is connected.

There may be a problem both in the router and in the cable, or computer. More precisely, in a network card, which is usually integrated into the motherboard. It is very easy to find out: just connect a cable from the Internet provider to the computer, not through a router. If there is a reaction to the connection, then most likely everything is fine with the network card. Or connect another computer to the router with the same cable. In this way, we will find out what the problem is.

If the computer does not respond to any cable connection (from different sources), then it is possible that the problem is in the network card. You can buy and install a new one, they are not expensive. Also, go to the device manager, and see if there is a network card there.

You may call it something else. If there is an exclamation mark next to it, then it is not working properly. Try reinstalling the driver. You just need to download from the manufacturer's website and run the installation manually, and not through the task manager.

It may also be that the LAN connector does not work on the router. It can also burn out. Try connecting the cable to all 4 LAN sockets (usually 4 LAN on the router).

If you connected several devices to the router via a network cable, and the Internet did not work on any of them, then it is obvious that the problem is in the router. Provided that the cable is working, tested. Maybe something in the settings. Try doing a factory reset and reconfiguring your router.

The main thing is to find out what is the reason.

It may also be something that is disabled Connect by local network. Need to check.

Go to , right click on and select Turn on(if it is disabled).

After these steps, the Internet should work.

Status “Identification…”, or “Unidentified network” (no internet access)

Another very popular problem, or even the most popular one. We connect a network cable to the computer, and the notification panel displays a permanent status "Identification…"(without network access).

Or, the connection status becomes "Unidentified network"(without internet access).

As a rule, such errors occur due to problems with IP addresses. Or, an IP is already registered on the computer (for example, from an old connection), and there is no connection to the router with this IP. Or, the DHCP server is disabled on the router, and it cannot give you an IP. In this case, you need to try to set automatic IP and DNS acquisition, or set these parameters manually.

For starters, try setting automatic IP and DNS acquisition. We go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections, or like this:

Right click on LAN connection and choose Properties. And then we do this:

Pull out and reconnect the network cable. The Internet should work immediately.

Similarly, you can try setting a static IP. Just highlight Use the following IP address and enter the IP. If you have access to the router at 192.168.1.1, then you can specify, for example, the address 192.168.1.60. If access to the settings is on 192.168.0.1, then the address will be 192.168.0.60. This is for an example.

DNS can be specified as follows: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Connection without Internet access (yellow triangle with an exclamation mark)

The problem looks like this:

Connection status “No internet access” as it speaks for itself, the Internet does not work. But, there is a connection to the router. As a rule, this error may appear due to incorrect router settings. When there is no internet connection.
