The operation of the freezer is controlled by a control and signaling unit built into table 4 and a thermostat mounted on the rear wall of the cabinet. The control and signaling unit includes an operating mode switch 6 with illumination (orange lamp) and two indicator lamps 7 (green) and 8 (red). There is also an information plate 5.

The Biryusa-14 freezer is made on the basis of the Biryusa-12 refrigerator and differs from it mainly in the increased thickness of the thermal insulation of the cabinet and door walls, the design of the refrigeration unit (Fig. 2), the thermostat, the presence of an alarm unit and electrical wiring.

When the freezer is switched on, the green and red lamps built into the edge of the table light up. The green lamp indicates that power is supplied to the freezer and is constantly lit, while the red lamp indicates that elevated temperature in the freezer compartment and goes out when the desired temperature is reached.

There is a quick freeze switch on the edge of the table that can be set to Freeze or Store. When the switch is set to the "Freeze" position, the orange lamp lights up, the freezer operates continuously at the minimum temperature. When the switch is set to the "Storage" position, the orange lamp goes out and the freezer is switched to cyclic operation.

The temperature necessary to ensure the safety of frozen products is maintained automatically by a temperature sensor-switch with a constant setting. The freezer operation mode is designed for continuous operation of the motor-compressor during freezing.

Freezer repair

Door overhang.

Unscrew the two screws, remove the grate from the freezer top cover and slide out the trim covering the freezer cabinet from above. At the top of the rear wall of the freezer, remove the bar and slide out the gasket. Reposition the door handle. Remove the door by first unscrewing the axles of the upper and lower hinges. Remove cover from left bracket. Rearrange the door stop to the left position and assemble the assembly in the reverse order. Install the cover on the right bracket.

Refrigeration unit replacement.

Remove tanks 1 and 2 (see fig. 1) and remove the lining from the outside of the top of the cabinet. Unscrew the screws that secure the tube of the thermostatic bellows and disconnect it with the gasket and holder from the lower shelf 5 (see Fig. 2) of the evaporator. Unscrew the screws that secure the evaporator supports to the side walls of the cabinet, remove the shelf guides and brackets, pull the evaporator towards you by the bottom shelf and remove the inner flange. Then, holding the upper shelf 4, pull the evaporator towards you by the lower shelf 5 (the evaporator will fold into a diamond shape). Fold the evaporator so that the distance between the front and rear supports is 100-140 mm.

After removing the latch, disconnect the start relay from the motor-compressor 8. Remove the latches and disconnect the motor-compressor from the freezer cabinet. On the rear wall of the cabinet, unscrew the screws securing the condenser and the screws securing the outer flange. Take out the sunroof insulation.

Pushing the evaporator into the hatch of the cabinet, remove the refrigeration unit. Install the new cooling unit in reverse order.

Replacing the temperature sensor-relay (thermostat).

Take out tanks 1 and 2 (see Fig. 1.), unscrew the screws that secure the bellows tube of the temperature sensor-switch, remove the gasket and the holder of the bellows tube. Unscrew the screws and remove the casing, remove the temperature sensor-relay from the casing. Disconnect the connecting cord from it. Pull the bellows tube out of the freezer cabinet opening and replace the temperature switch.

Install the new device in the reverse order. After inserting the bellows tube into the cabinet, seal the entry point with sealing paste.

Replacement of indicators and switch.

Remove the grill on the top cover of the freezer, after unscrewing the fastening screws. Pull out the table cover, gasket and remove it. Remove the indicator cover. Disconnect wiring from faulty indicator or operation mode switch. Remove the defective device from the edging socket and replace with a new one. Assemble the knot in reverse order.

Replacing the start relay.

Remove the block cover, first unscrew the four self-tapping screws. Disconnect the relay from the motor-compressor and from the freezer header. Install new relay in reverse order.

Replacing the door body with thermal insulation.

Remove the grate, grate bar, after unscrewing the fastening screws. Pull out the trim and gasket. Loosen the top axle nut. Tilt the freezer and carefully lean the back against a soft object. Loosen the nut securing the bottom hinge pin. Remove door. Unscrew the screws securing the panel to the case, remove the latches, remove the panel assembly with the magnetic seal. After replacing the door body with thermal insulation, install the panel assembly with a magnetic seal, install screws, latches. Insert the axles of the lower and upper hinges into the sleeve. Adjust the position to seal the doorway.

If necessary, replace the door panel and magnetic seal.

Cabinet replacement.

Remove door. Remove all items from the freezer cabinet. Remove the refrigeration unit. Unscrew the screws, remove the grille, lining, gasket. Remove the indicator cover. Disconnect the cord from the control and signaling devices, from the switch 6 of the operating mode and indicator lamps 7 and 8. Unscrew the screws securing the bar and remove the edging that covers the indicator lamps and the switch. Remove grille. Remove thermostat. Disconnect the distribution block by first unscrewing the bolt. Remove the electrical wiring assembly. Remove body panels. Install the new cabinet in reverse order.
